Preschoolers and Kindergarteners are inquisitive, eager to learn and anxious to develop independence and competence. "Developmental Practice", as defined by all state-of-the-art Early Childhood Specialists, emphasizes extensive individualized learning options and opportunities for your preschool or kindergarten child. At The Cottage our individualized programs allow and encourage your child to progress rapidly in their learning and to develop an enthusiasm for learning. Individualized learning also develops your child’s independence, confidence, and feelings of success. Extensive learning materials, as well as computers are offered during the individualized learning periods.

Teacher directed activities are also important. They will help your child prepare for public school, where the teacher/student ratios seldom allow for individualized programming. During group activities your child will also develop a new set of social skills which differ from those developed during individual or very small group activity times (following directions, taking turns, being sensitive to others needs within a group and more.) Emotional nurturing and social growth, creative exploration and physical development are balanced at The Cottage with language arts, mathematics, science and art. Each enhances the others when learned in an integrated program.
